Neuware - 'Frontinus: The Stratagems, And, the Aqueducts of Rome' presents two essential treatises by Sextus Julius Frontinus, a distinguished Roman senator, soldier, and administrator of the first century AD. These works offer a rare and invaluable glimpse into the practical realities of managing the Roman Empire's vast military and urban infrastructure. In 'The Stratagems', Frontinus compiles a systematic collection of military examples and tactical anecdotes drawn from Greek and Roman history. Intended as a manual for generals, it categorizes various maneuvers and deceptions used in warfare, reflecting the disciplined and strategic mindset of the Roman military elite.'The Aqueducts of Rome' provides a detailed and authoritative account of Rome's water supply system. As the city's water commissioner, Frontinus chronicles the history, engineering, and maintenance of the aqueducts, while also addressing the administrative challenges of preventing theft and ensuring equitable distribution. Together, these texts serve as foundational documents for those interested in ancient engineering, military history, and Roman governance, showcasing the technical expertise and organizational prowess that sustained one of history's greatest civilizations. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
