Neuware - 'Frontinus the Strategems and the Aqueducts of Rome' brings together two essential works by Sextus Julius Frontinus, a distinguished Roman senator and engineer of the first century CE. In 'The Stratagems', Frontinus compiles an extensive collection of military anecdotes and tactical examples designed to assist commanders in the field. This work serves as a practical manual, illustrating successful maneuvers, psychological warfare, and defensive strategies employed by legendary figures from antiquity. The second part of the volume, 'The Aqueducts of Rome', offers an unprecedented glimpse into the technical and administrative complexities of Rome's water supply system. Written while Frontinus served as water commissioner, it details the history, construction, and maintenance of the city's vast network of aqueducts. This treatise remains one of the most significant sources for understanding Roman civil engineering and urban management. Together, these works highlight Frontinus's versatility as both a military theorist and a dedicated public servant. This volume provides an authoritative look at the pragmatic genius of the Roman Empire, making it an indispensable resource for students of classical history, military science, and ancient technology. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible. Therefore, you may see the original copyright references, library stamps (as most of these works have been housed in our most important libraries around the world), and other notations in the work. This work is in the public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations.
