There has been a need for such a book for quite some time.Over the last hundred years, the field of electronic waves, initially placed on a firm ground by James Clerk Maxwell, has grown and blossomed magnificently, primarily in the area of applications to match up with the mathematical sophistication with which Maxwell's equations were presented. Today, almost anyone in our highly technological society strives toward a higher understanding of the inner workings of electronic equipment and desires to know the major principles behind this fascinating form of energy called electricity and electronic waves, and yet most electrical books present the basic concepts with so much complexity and filled with so many mathematical equations that the average individual has given up on the subject and perforce has decided to retire to the sideline to be a spectator on the subject. In other words, their hope has been dashed aside and their dream of a higher understanding has not been fulfilled in any of the modern texts on electricity.The present work is the culmination of many years of study, observation and pondering on the dilemmas and enigmas of the physical universe in which we live with particular attention to electronic waves. L'autore: Matthew M. Radmanesh, received his BSEE degree from Pahlavi University in electrical engineering in 1978, his MSEE and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in Microwave Electronics and Electro-Optics in 1980 and 1984, respectively. He has worked in academia for GMI Engineering & Management and in industry for Hughes Aircraft Co., Maury Microwave Corp. and Boeing Aircraft Co. He is currently a faculty member in the electrical and computer engineering department at California State University, Northridge, CA. Dr. Radmanesh is a senior member of IEEE, Eta Kappa Nu Honor society and a past president (three years) of the SFV chapter of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Technique (MTT) society. His many years of experience in both microwave industry and academia have led to over 40 technical papers in national and international journals and several design handbooks in microwave engineering.His current research interests include design of RF and Microwave devices and circuits, millimeter-wave circuit applications, photonic engineering as well as engineering education. He received the distinguished lecturer award in the 1994 IEEE international Microwave Symposium and was awarded twice by IEEE LA council for his contribution to the MTT society (1994, 1995).Dr. Radmanesh won the MPD divisional award while at Hughes Aircraft Co. for his pioneering work in millimeter wave noise sources and a similar award for the HERF project from Boeing Aircraft Co. for his outstanding contributions. He holds two patents for his pioneering work and novel designs of two millimeter-wave noise sources.Dr. Radmanesh authored a popular textbook entitled "Radio Frequency and Microwave electronics Illustrated," published in U.S. and internationally by Prentice Hall in 2001. The Chinese translation of this work was published in the People's Republic of China in 2002.
