Every child deserves a story that makes them lean forward and forget to blink.
Fresh out of the oven and full of himself, a cheeky little fellow takes one look at the world and decides nobody alive is fast enough to stop him. So he runs. Past the old couple who made him. Past the cow, the horse, the pig, and the hen. Laughing. Taunting. Singing his little chant like he has already won.
But fast legs and a big mouth only take you so far.
Waiting quietly by the river is someone who never ran at all — and that changes everything.
This warm, funny, and beautifully told story by Mary M. Ray is perfect for children ages 3 to 8, bedtime reading, classroom storytime, or any moment a child needs to hear that being clever will always matter more than being loud.
If your little one loves animals, adventure, and stories with a twist that makes them gasp — this one was written for them.
