God Said Let There Be Light And There Was "LLUMO" is an autobiographical book about the author when he was a 22-year old college graduate forced, by way of the draft, to transition from working as a Protocol Officer at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston to serving in an Army mechanized infantry unit in Vietnam and Cambodia. A synopsis of that experience and dealing with it follows:
Ray W. Luce spent three years working in the U. S. space program during the Gemini and Apollo programs, culminating with Luce being present in NASA's Mission Control Center in Houston when Apollo 11 made man's first landing on the lunar surface July 20, 1969. Additionally, during Apollo 11, Luce was drafted and seven months later was carrying an M16 in a mechanized infantry unit fighting in Vietnam and Cambodia. This book is the result of Luce's desire to reconcile the disorienting mental juxtaposition of experiencing these immediately successive and disparate events, one the ultimate manifestation of man's unquenchable drive to explore and his endless technical abilities, and the other a reminder of man's destructive nature and the resulting brutality.
During 2016, after forty-six years of dealing with the mental dissonance resulting from these spiritually-opposite indelible experiences, Luce returned to Vietnam and Cambodia. There he found closure. Following is a passage from Luce's recount of that experience. "Imagine that a long time ago you were reading the only copy of the most vivid novel you ever read. And just as you got to the last chapter you lost the book. For the next 46 years you've wondered how the story ended. Then one day you find the book and read that last chapter. And it's the best ending you could possibly have imagined. With a peaceful sense of satisfaction, you close the book and put it back on the shelf."

Descrizione dello Store
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
