HB. 197pp with 9 diagrams/maps and 20 illus The 135th Siege Battery came into being in May 1916, at Tynemouth, equipped with 8" Howitzers, four at first, made up to six in January 1918. Only three months after it had been formed the battery landed in France, in August 1916, and went straight into the Somme battle. Subsequently it was in action in the Arras sector from March to July 1917, then on the coast at Nieuport where it remained till December. From December 1917 to December 1918 it was part of the 83rd Brigade, R.G.A. and in that period it was in action at Vimy Ridge in support of the 47th and 56th Divisions. It played a significant part in the defence against and defeat of enemy assaults on that feature. At the end of July the battery moved to the Amiens sector to take part in the allied counter-offensive and in the final advance. All this activity is well covered in the narrative and well supported by maps, and diagrams with good photos.Where this book scores highly is in the appendices and the information they contain, the first of which (most unusual) is the record of one of its howitzers, on display at the Crystal Palace after the war, in the form of a diary describing how it was employed between January 1918 and the armistice. There is a Roll of Honour listing the twenty-nine killed or died of wounds stating where and when the casualty occurred and where the dead man is buried. Another appendix lists all the wounded with date, nature of casualty and disposal. There is the monthly summary of casualties from August 1916 to October 1918 and there are tables showing monthly ammunition expenditure in 1916,1917 and 1918. Another table gives the record of the brigade in action between 8 August and 11 November 1918, showing its employment with dates, number of rounds fired, the nature of the action and casualty figures (150,051 rounds fired, total casualties 269). Finally there is the nominal roll of officers and men. A very workmanlike history.…

Hai il diritto di recedere dal presente contratto entro 14 giorni senza fornire alcuna motivazione.
Il periodo di recesso scade dopo 14 giorni dal giorno in cui tu o una terza parte, diversa dal vettore e da te indicata, acquisisce il possesso fisico dell'ultimo bene o dell'ultimo lotto o pezzo.
Per esercitare il diritto di recesso, compila e invia elettronicamente una dichiarazione esplicita sul nostro sito Web, alla voce “I miei acquisti” nella sezione “Mio account”. Ti comunicheremo senza indugio una conferma di ricezione di tale recesso su un supporto durevole (ad es. via e-mail).
Per rispettare il termine di recesso, è sufficiente inviare la comunicazione relativa all'esercizio del diritto di recesso prima della scadenza del periodo di recesso stesso.
Effetti del recesso
In caso di recesso dal presente contratto, ti rimborseremo tutti i pagamenti ricevuti, compresi i costi di spedizione (ad eccezione dei costi supplementari derivanti dalla tua eventuale scelta di un tipo di spedizione diverso dal tipo meno costoso di consegna standard da noi offerto).
Potremo effettuare una detrazione dal rimborso per la perdita di valore dei beni forniti, qualora tale perdita sia il risultato di una manipolazione non necessaria da parte tua.
Eseguiremo il rimborso senza indebito ritardo e non oltre 14 giorni dal giorno in cui saremo informati della tua decisione di recedere dal presente contratto.
Il rimborso sarà effettuato utilizzando lo stesso mezzo di pagamento da te usato per la transazione iniziale, salvo che tu non abbia espressamente concordato altrimenti; in ogni caso, non dovrai sostenere alcun costo quale conseguenza di tale rimborso.
Possiamo trattenere il rimborso finché non avremo ricevuto i beni oppure finché non avrai fornito la prova di averli rispediti, a seconda di quale condizione si verifichi per prima.

Eccezioni al diritto di recesso

despatched by surface mail, but on request we can despatch by air-mail.
Great care is taken with the packing of mail orders. usually using heavy-duty cardboard
MailPaks so that they arrive in the same condition they left our premises. We try to
despatch all orders within one day; please allow 7 days for delivery to Mainland UK,
Europe and overseas airmail. (45 -90 days Europe and North America surface mail. Rest
of the World allow 60 -120 days). Multiple orders may arrive in more than one package.
