This 144-page hardcover coffee-table book portrays people passionate about laboring with their hands. Vivid narratives, combined with striking black-and-white photographs of a boat-builder, potter, sign language interpreter, physical therapist, baker, midwife, and others provide a meditation on work. The collection includes twenty-three full-length profiles, three photo collages, and 126 duotones.

Shes written about homesteaders in Mexico, hurricane survivors in Nicaragua, life in a remote mountain village, and senior citizens in her rural community in the Pacific Northwest.Iriss interviews, essays, and memoir pieces have been published in national and regional journals and magazines. Her son and daughter are grown, and she lives on Lopez Island, WA with her husband.
