The 1922 GERMAN LANGUAGE edition (3rd: enlarged and improved) of Schoenberg's 1911 classic of theoretical thinking - perhaps the best study of harmony ever written. This copy is signed on the title page by American composer Israel Citkowitz (Aaron Copland's first composition student). CONTENTS: See accompanying scans of the Table of Contents. 516+ pages. *** IN GERMAN. CONDITION: the book cover shows substantial edge- and corner-wear, with scuffs and chips on its cloth spine and tearing at the hinges, its decorative end-papers showing just a bit of age-tanning. The early pages are marked with Citkowitz's annotations and there are several instances of spotting in the margins. In lieu of an original dust jacket, I have fashioned a simple brown dust jacket for the book, with titling on the front panel and spine - enclosed in a clear, protective, removable Brodart cover.
