ABOUT THIS BOOK: Inspired by Mike Mignola's legendary tales of horror, myth, and folklore, Hellboy: The Roleplaying Game is an immersive tabletop experience that brings his world to life. Powered by the world's most popular RPG ruleset, Fifth Edition, Hellboy: The Roleplaying Game gives you the tools to step into the shoes of a B.P.R.D. agent, ready to face the forces of evil. You can become a field researcher skilled in the study of the occult, a hard-nosed B.P.R.D. security agent, a rookie with hidden supernatural powers, and more. The choice is yours. Get ready to become a member of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.) and begin investigating occult perils threatening the world's very existence. In the Hellboy RPG, your team explores gothic locations, hunts clues, discovers artifacts, and faces off against terrifying foes. The Hellboy universe is vast. Absolutely vast. It spans, well, a whole universe. From the icy depths of dimensionless space where the ancient elder beings, the Ogdru Jahad, wait eager to return, to the wintry tracts of a Russia preserved in Baba Yaga's dream. It contains an entirely new and secret history of the world, preserved in a lost language. It's a universe filled with magic, arcane science, Nazis who need punching, and characters who are always that little bit more than you expect them to be. It's a universe of stories. And with this RPG, you get to tell your own. The world isn't what it seems, you know this, right? You look smart, you look like you've seen some stuff. On the surface, sure, there are still supermarkets and pubs, wrestling bouts and cinemas. But beneath that there is another world. Another world that pokes its way through the glass and steel of our world, pokes its way through and demands to be seen. It's usually the colour of blood. You know the score - vanished children, nightmare beasts erupting in the centre of a suburban town full of nice, prosperous parents with gum-chewing, grinning kids. The old stories that fill books even now are all true. Every fairy tale, every half-murmured urban myth, every fanciful drawing in the corner of a medieval map.every one of them is true. And the world needs protecting. What's in the Hellboy book? This 240+ page core rulebook is broken down into three main parts, providing all of the necessary background and rules needed to play. It provides everything you need for play, including: Part I: Joining the BPRD: Comprehensive Origins and Roles that allow you to create your very own paranormal investigator. Part II: Mastering the Basics: The complete 5E ruleset, with some tweaks and changes to bring the system fully into Hellboy's world. It includes new mechanics for options such as Ingenuity and Doom, designed to capture the flavor and strange dynamics of the Mignolaverse. Part III: Conquering the Darkness: Definitive advice for GMs on running games set within the Mignolaverse, including tips for creating paranormal locations and strange pocket dimensions, rites and rituals, weird science, and occult groups. Part IV: Agents and Enemies: A comprehensive bestiary of foes, plus statistics for several legendary characters such as Abe, Hellboy, Liz, and others. The Jungles of the Mind: A complete stand-alone adventure for up to six players. (Publisher).…
