In as-is condition. Boards very worn with dry spots, areas of loss. Detached front board. Spine is cracked and mostly missing. Binding intact. Fly leaves are missing. Paste down stained with previous owner’s plaque. Old tape on front title page. Toned text block with moderate foxing. Unmarked. Aesthetically flawed, but text is not affected. Please see photos. First edition. Author was a civil engineer who lived in Philadelphia for several years. Sherman Day was grandson of Roger Sherman, the signer of the Declaration of Independence, and the son of Jeremiah Day, president of Yale University from 1817-1846. This volume is one of the earliest books to include a county history of every county in Pennsylvania.
