A History of England, Volume 2: 1688 to the Present focuses on the key social, economic, cultural, environmental, intellectual, and political events and themes of English history since 1688. The text discusses events in Scotland, Wales, and Ireland as they affected developments in England. Clayton Roberts was Professor of History at The Ohio State University. He is the author of The Growth of Responsible Government in Stuart England and Schemes and Undertakings: A Study of English Politics in the Seventeenth Century.

David Roberts was Charles and Elfriede Collis Professor of History at Dartmouth College. He is the author of Paternalism in Early Victorian England and The Social Conscience of the Early Victorians.
