VERY GOOD SOFTCOVER. PLEASE REVIEW PICTURES Cottolene was a brand of shortening made of beef tallow and cottonseed oil produced in the US from 1868 until the mid 20th century. First mass-produced and mass-marketed as an alternative to lard and is remembered today for its iconic national ad campaign and the cookbooks that were written to promote its use. Mrs. Sarah Tyson Rorer, Principal of the Philadelphia Cooking School jumped on board the Cottolene band wagon as did many other notable authors of the time. Beautifully printed in red and black.
