A fair early copy of this famous measuring guide for builders by Hoppus, Surveyor to the Corporation of the London Assurance. His first practical measuring guide was published in 1736 and it continued through various editions after his death in 1739. This copy is in contemporary full leather binding - measuring 8 x 21 cms (height). The binding is complete but the boards are adrift. There is some wear to the boards but a straight-forward leather case repair would produce a very good copy. Contents: folding plate; title page; preface; table of contents; explanations and usage (i-lii); half title; tables 214pp; advert for Hawney's complete measurer. Contents generally very clean - fep is creased; small ownership signature to verso of table; brown toning to margins.
