"Horology" is a comprehensive and authoritative guide to the intricate science of time measurement and the technical construction of precision timepieces. Written by J. Eric Haswell, a Fellow of the British Horological Institute, this work delves into the fundamental principles and mechanical complexities of clocks, watches, and chronometers.

The book offers a detailed exploration of the evolution and mechanics of horological instruments. It covers everything from the basic principles of timekeeping to the sophisticated escapements and movements found in high-grade chronometers. Readers will find in-depth discussions on pendulums, balance wheels, and the various gear trains that drive these essential devices.

Enhanced with descriptive plates, this volume serves as both a practical manual for craftsmen and a valuable historical resource for collectors and enthusiasts of mechanical engineering. It meticulously documents the technical advancements of the early 20th century, providing a window into the precision required to master the measurement of time. Whether interested in the restoration of antique pieces or the physics of oscillation, readers will find "Horology" to be an indispensable reference on the craft and theory of timekeeping.
