In the grey, suffocating silt of Oakhaven Valley, the world is ending in slow motion. For nine-year-old Leo Richardson and Maya Lin, the future is a series of closed doors and auction notices. But atop the ridge sits Wayne's Folly-a Victorian monstrosity that refuses to decay at the same rate as the town below. When the two children drop through a collapsed floor into a subterranean cavern, they discover the pulse: a violet meteorite core that breathes in time with their own hearts.

In a single, blinding flash, they see a sunlit vision of a perfectly restored world-a future worth more than the grey reality they've been handed. To save it, they bury two tokens-a silver dollar and a brass level-and make a silent pact. But the house is a mirror of the mind, and it follows the Law of the Sisyphus: if the heart is not level, the masonry is brittle.

Twelve years of silence follow.

Scattered by economic ruin, Leo becomes a man of iron and precision in the salvage yards of Ohio, while Maya masters the geometry of the void in the high-rises of Chicago. But the ridge never let go. Called back by scratchy, time-dilated voices in the static, they return to the ruins in 2038 as the only architects capable of operating a machine they are only beginning to understand.

The war for the ridge has begun.

Vanguard Dynamics, a corporate conglomerate led by the polished and predatory Alistair Wayne, sees the house not as a sanctuary, but as a battery. As Leo and Maya race to "lock" the rooms and stabilize the estate, the house fights back. Non-Euclidean corridors stretch into infinity; rooms fold into themselves, and Chronal Shadows-bitter projections of their own future selves-hunt them through the hallways.

When a billion-dollar betrayal triggers "The Great Split," Leo and Maya are hurled into separate centuries: one trapped in a neon-choked corporate dystopia, the other in a disease-ridden industrial smog. To find their way back, they must bridge the gap with total, unshielded honesty-realizing that the only anchor stronger than the bedrock is their shared intent.

From the high-stakes tactical defense of a weaponized kitchen to the moral weight of the "Displaced Pressure" destroying the valley below, The House of Constant Time is a dense, atmospheric journey through the architecture of memory. As the final siege liquefies the mountain and the architects fall through the very fabric of history, they must reach the 100% lock to trigger the final correction.

In the end, there is only the first and last door. The loop must be closed. The blueprint must be infinite. And the house... the house is finally ready to become a home.

Descrizione dello Store

We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book.
