The church planter needs a fresh glimpse of Jesus. The churches we are planting need a fresh glimpse of Jesus. This seems simple, but perhaps that has been the problem. Most church planting books seem to forget to the main point, which is Jesus. There’s discussion about everything else under heaven, but what about the person who is head over the church we are planting? What confidence should this inspire in the church planter? What hope? What drive? When we face challenges and warfare in the ministry of church planting, the answer is not to become more ingenious, slick, pragmatic, or carnal. The answer is to fix our eyes afresh on Jesus. It is to bunker down in the promises He’s given us in the Scriptures. It is to remember that the main objective is not numbers, popularity, influence, a big building, or multiple satellite campuses. It is Him. That is the simple aim of this book.
