Introduction to Islam and Science is an introductory work exploring the relationship between Islamic belief and the physical sciences, written by the late Ali Alseddiqi as part of his personal study and reflection. The book examines science as a tool for understanding the universe while emphasizing that it serves as a complementary support to faith, not its foundation.

Drawing on examples from physics, biology, astronomy, geology, and medicine, the work discusses areas where scientific observations align with Islamic teachings, as well as cases where apparent conflicts arise. The author reflects on the limitations of human cognition, scientific methodology, and technological tools, highlighting how incomplete data, cognitive biases, and evolving theories shape scientific conclusions.

This volume also addresses broader methodological questions, including the provisional nature of scientific knowledge, the existence of the unknown and unknowable, and the distinction between observable evidence and absolute truth. Throughout, the work affirms the Qur’an as the ultimate criterion of truth, while encouraging thoughtful and critical engagement with scientific claims.

Introduction to Islam and Science is presented as an early contribution within the Foundations of Islamic Knowledgeseries. It is published posthumously to preserve the author’s notes and reflections, and to make them available for students, general readers, and seekers of knowledge interested in understanding the interface between Islam and modern science.
