Im Gegensatz zu anderen Texten, die sich mit Testverfahren für die Qualitätskontrole beschäftigen und diesen Themenkreis beschränkt auf spezielle Bereiche abhandeln, werden hier alle Aktivitäten einer Unternehmung unter dem Gesichtspunkt betrachtet, die, durch Qualitätsmängel verursachten Verluste zu reduzieren. Die einzelnen Kapitel führen jeweils in den betreffenden Problemkreis ein; sie bauen auf den vorangehenden Kapiteln auf. Bei jedem Kapitel folgt nach dieser Einführung und der Darstellung der Methoden eine konkrete Fallstudie. Abgeschlossen wird jedes Kapitel durch einen Abschnitt mit Fragen und Diskussion zwischen dem Autor und einem Studenten, in der spezielle Probleme vertieft werden. Die vorgestellten Verfahren sind sehr leistungsfähig und trotzdem einfach anzuwenden; sie verlangen keine besonderen Kenntnisse in Statistik oder Vorkenntnisse aus anderen Bereichen.
