This moment is one of interest to you, gentlemen, as well as to us. For you have now to chose whether you will take no heed to the history of the past, or whether you will profit by its warnings, - whether you will thoughtlessly follow the footsteps of those who have wandered from the right path; or whether you will not rather strive with the self denying ardour of the true votaries of science, for the rewards of fame and of fortune, that are within your reach. And you have incentives still more exalted than the prospect of attaining those, the more immediate objects of your exertions. On the tablet of creation, exposed to our View, we find written in words of light the high and sublime truth, that the human mind, an emanation from the divinity, departs from the eternal order of its nature, if it bends to ignoble influences, and obeys where it should rule. Every error to which it does homage, every prejudice and re spect for '0pinion which are suffered to stifle the free expres sion of its convictions, every passion whose voice sounds above the calm accents of wisdom, affects not only that individual mo ment of its history, but degrades it from its high position; and its progress, from that time forward, must be from a lower step in the seals of intelligence. The horizon of its vision is. Nar rowed, and it less clearly beholds in each truth, the connecting links of universal wisdom, and the grand chain of mutual sup port and dependence which pervades the universe. And if there is one consideration more than another, that should nerve us to pursue our course unfaltering, and make us shrink from every dereliction, it is the thought, that each will sink us in the scale of intellectual existences, and remove our starting point farther from our goal.

Descrizione dello Store
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
