IoT and IoE Driven Smart Cities (eng)

This book provides detail on applying Internet of Things (IoT) and Internet of Everything (IoE) in smart cities and their design aspects related to physical and network layer models. The authors explore the possibilities of utilizing communication technologies like multi-input multi-output (MIMO), narrow-band IoT (NB-IoT), ultra-reliable low latency communications (URLLC), enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), and massive machine-type communications (mMTC) for successful implementation of the IoT/IoE. The authors also address the development and advancement in cloud computing to support IoT and IoE. Research on the challenges and future predictions for efficiently implementing and exploring the benefits of smart cities are also explored. The book pertains to researchers, academics, and professionals in the field.

Dr. Samarendra Nath Sur (M’2016) was born in Hooghly, West Bengal, India, in 1984. He received B.Sc degree in Physics (Hons.) from the University of Burdwan in 2007. He received M.Sc. degree in Electronics Science from Jadavpur University in 2007 and M.Tech degree in Digital Electronics and Advanced Communication from Sikkim Manipal University in 2012. He received his Ph. D degree from NIT, Durgapur. Since 2008, he has been associated with the Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, India, where he is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering. His current research interests include Broadband Wireless Communication (MIMO and Spread Spectrum Technology), Advanced Digital Signal Processing, and Remote Sensing. He is a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), IEEE-IoT, IEEE Signal Processing Society, Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI) and International Association of Engineers (IAENG). He was the recipient of the University Medal & Dr. S.C. Mukherjee Memorial Gold Centered Silver Medal from Jadavpur University in 2007. He also serves as the reviewer of International Journal of Electronics, Taylor and Francis, IET Communication, Ad Hoc Networks, Elsevier and IEEE transactions on signal processing, SN Applied Science.

 

Dr. Valentina Emilia Balas is currently Full Professor in the Department of Automatics and Applied Software at the Faculty of Engineering, “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad , Romania. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Electronics and Telecommunications from Polytechnic University of Timisoara. Dr. Balas is author of more than 300 research papers in refereed journals and international conferences. Her research interests include intelligent systems, fuzzy control, soft computing, smart sensors, information fusion, modeling and simulation. She is the Editor-in Chief of the International Journal of Advanced Intelligence Paradigms and the International Journal of Computational Systems Engineering. She also serves as an editorial board member of several national and international journals and is the Director of the Department of International Relations and Head of Intelligent Systems Research Centre in Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad. She is a member of EUSFLAT, SIAM and a Senior Member IEEE, member in TC–Fuzzy Systems (IEEE CIS), chair of the TF 14 in TC – Emergent Technologies (IEEE CIS), member in TC – Soft Computing (IEEE SMCS).

 

Dr. Akash Kumar Bhoi [B.Tech, M.Tech, Ph.D.] is working as Assistant Professor (Research) in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT), India, since 2012. He is also working (Period: 20th Jan 2021 - 19th Jan 2022) as Research Associate at Wireless Networks (WN) Research Laboratory, Institute of Information Science and Technologies, National Research Council (ISTI-CRN) Pisa, Italy. He is a University Ph.D. Course Coordinator for “Research & Publication Ethics (RPE).” He is a member of IEEE, ISEIS, and IAENG, an associate member of IEI, UACEE, and an editorial board member reviewer of Indian and international journals. He is also a regular reviewer of repute journals, namely IEEE, Springer, Elsevier, Taylor and Francis, Inderscience, etc. His research areas are Biomedical Technologies, the Internet of Things, Computational Intelligence, Antenna, Renewable Energy. He has published several papers in national and international journals and conferences. He has 100+ documents registered in the Scopus database by the year 2020. He has also served on numerous organizing panels for international conferences and workshops. He is currently editing several books with Springer Nature, Elsevier, and Routledge & CRC Press. He is also serving as Guest editor for special issues of the journal like Springer Nature and Inderscience.

 

Dr. Anand Nayyar received Ph.D (Computer Science) from Desh Bhagat University in 2017 in the area of Wireless Sensor Networks and Swarm Intelligence. He is currently working in Graduate School, Faculty of Information Technology- Duy Tan University, Da Nang, Vietnam. A Certified Professional with 75+ Professional certificates from CISCO, Microsoft, Oracle, Google, Beingcert, EXIN, GAQM, Cyberoam and many more. Published 100+ Research Papers in various National International Journals (Scopus/SCI/SCIE/SSCI Indexed) with High Impact Factor. Published 50+ Papers in International Conferences indexed with Springer, IEEE Xplore and ACM Digital Library. Member of more than 50+ Associations as Senior and Life Member including IEEE, ACM. He has authored/co-authored cum Edited 30+ Books of Computer Science. Associated with more than 500+ International Conferences as Programme Committee/Chair/Advisory Board/Review Board member. He has 10 Australian Patent and 1 Indian Design to his credit in the area of Wireless Communications, Artificial Intelligence, IoT and Image Processing. He is currently working in the area of Wireless Sensor Networks, IoT, Swarm Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Drones, Blockchain, Cyber Security, Network Simulation and Wireless Communications. Awarded 30+ Awards for Teaching and Research—Young Scientist, Best Scientist, Young Researcher Award, Outstanding Researcher Award, Excellence in Teaching and many more. He is acting as Associate Editor for Wireless Networks (Springer), Computer Communications (Elsevier), IET-Quantum Communications, IET Wireless Sensor Systems, IET Networks, IJDST, IJISP, IJCINI. He is acting as Editor-in-Chief of IGI-Global, USA Journal titled “International Journal of Smart Vehicles and Smart Transportation (IJSVST)”.
