Gramma Josie died in Jak’s arms and there’s no way to bring her back.

But when Jak finds Gramma’s old book he is whirled to a hill at the beginning of time where two trees stand side-by-side, one that brings life and the other, death. Unfortunately, somebody ate fruit from the tree of death, unleashing a storm of evil led by the fire-breathing serpent Beelz across the entire earth.

Jak’s mission - destroy death, wipe out evil and bring back paradise. His secret weapon - Gramma’s book. Wait, a book? A mystery man made of light assures Jak the book is the only weapon powerful enough to do the job, but first, Jak must follow the Scarlet Thread and find the people who can infuse the book with the power it needs.

Beelz isn’t willing to give up Earth without a fight, and besides that, there’s the poison sizzling through Jak’s blood.

Is it really true the dead can live forever? What will it take to restore paradise?
