Jamie Robertson is a high profile crime reporter whose own life is a roller coaster ride from his unorthodox birth to his years of retirement where he finally unearths some of the bogeymen that have haunted his life. Along the way he meets the men of violence, the women of vice, the victims and the victors, the law makers and law breakers. He holds scathing views on the competence and honesty of the city’s police force and yet he forms a tight bond of friendship with several officers and falls hopelessly in love with one female officer. However the love of his life is a high flier who seems to be prepared to compromise justice to further her own career. The love affair is short lived. Some people have their vans smashed; some have their heads smashed, some people die. Some escape justice while others are unjustly arrested. Even Jamie himself spends a few nervous hours in the interview rooms. He is relentless in his search for the truth. When he eventually finds the truth it explodes in his face. His whole world spirals out of control until he once again meets up with his lady love and together they exorcise the ghosts that have haunted them both for twenty years.
