• Offers holistic practices to help support each elemental dog type at any stage of life, including diagrams of acupressure points that can help
• Includes element archetype quizzes to determine your dog’s type as well as your own
Presenting a gateway for truly understanding your dog, Elizabeth Johnson reveals how to apply the Five Element model of traditional Chinese medicine to our canine companions to reveal their personality archetype, their behavioral strengths and weaknesses, their relationship dynamics with us, and why they do what they do.
Sharing the five unique patterns of the Five Element dog archetypes, along with quizzes to help you determine your dog’s type as well as your own, Elizabeth explains how dogs have predominant element types and how they may shift between elemental archetypes throughout the seasons and as they age, just like we do. Looking at each dog element archetype individually, from Wood Dog to Water Dog, she explores their personality characteristics and emotional defaults, sharing real-life stories of dogs with the same elemental type. She describes how each archetype reacts under stress and what creates stress for them, as well as offering simple stress balancers and lifestyle measures to counteract their anxieties. She explores each type’s individual strengths, what makes them happy, their wants and needs, and how to best support them for elemental harmony in your relationship. She looks at potential physical ailments and conditions for each type and suggests holistic and supportive therapies, including sharing diagrams of acupressure points that can help, such as calming points for the Fire Dog. She also explores how the Five Elements express themselves in aging dogs and rescue dogs and how we can best support them.
Guiding you through the deeply embedded personality traits of dogs—and their owners—Elizabeth Johnson reveals the life lessons each dog type brings to us as well as how to create a peaceful and happy home environment for any combination of canine and human elemental archetypes.
