You just bought a kubb set. Now what?
Kubb (pronounced "koob") is the Scandinavian lawn game that's quietly taken over American backyards, tailgates, campgrounds, and family reunions — and if you've never played before, the rules can feel more confusing than they need to be. This guide fixes that.
Kubb for Beginners walks you through everything, in order, with nothing assumed:
- The real history behind the game (and the Viking legend behind its nickname)
- How to set up a proper pitch — and how to shrink it for a smaller yard
- The core rules, explained clearly, plus the regional variations you're likely to run into
- Real strategy for throwing, defending, and closing out a close match
- The mistakes almost every beginner makes (so you can skip them)
- How to host your own backyard tournament, bracket and all
- A buying guide so your first set actually lasts
- A quick-reference rules card and glossary you'll keep coming back to
Whether you're prepping for a family reunion tournament, trying to explain the rules to friends for the first time, or just tired of half-remembered YouTube explanations, this is the guide that gets you playing — and winning — fast.
Perfect for: first-time players, hosts planning a backyard tournament, gift-givers pairing this with a new kubb set, and anyone who wants to actually understand the rules before their next game.
