N & M Press reprint (original pub 1857). vi + 66pp with 14 lithographs illustrating the cemeteries in their scenic backgrounds.Published Price £18 "In offering the following pages to the Public, the Compilers trust that they are not too late in attempting to excite an interest relative to the last earthly tenements of those gallant ones who, while they lived, were their country's noblest pride, and now that they can fight her victories no more, assert a just claim to her undying remembrance." With this opening sentence i their introduction the compilers of the book, Captain The Hon John Colborne, 60th Royal Rifles (KRRC), late 77th Regiment (Middlesex) and Captain Frederic Brine, Royal Engineers, set out the purpose of their work, and it is a remarkable piece of work at that. Here is the record of graves and memorials in the various, listed cemeteries with details of inscriptions on headstones and memorials, for example: "Sacred to the Memory of Priv. Mich. Murphy. 7 Royal Fusiliers killed in The Trenches on The 1 May/55 Aged 22 Years." But what is unusual is that not only the wording but also the exact format of the inscription on the headstone/memorial is reproduced in the text, so that if you could go back in time 150 years and visit one of the cemeteries you would see on the grave precisely what you see in the text with the wording arranged just as it is on the headstone. The epitaphs are grouped by cemeteries, some of which are named after the place (Balaklava, Scutari etc) others after the formation or units to which the dead belonged (First Brigade Light Division, Guards and Highlanders etc). Each page is divided into three vertical columns and the headstone inscriptions are shown one beneath the other. But that is not all. In an appendix is a fascinating assembly of thirteen statistical returns giving strengths, casualties and sick figures at various stages. Checking my own regiment (17th Foot) I obtained the following information: Date of Embarkation Dec 2 1854. Strength on embarkation 23 officers 719 NCOs and Men. Reinforcements 31 officers 549 NCOs and Men for a total 54 officers 1,268 NCOs and Men. Died 3 Officers 181 NCOs and Men. Invalided home 24 officers 192 NCOs and Men. PoW nil. Deserters 1. Total casualties 27 Officers 374 NCOs and Men. Strength of regiment on 1st April 1856 31 officers 886 NCOs and Men. Another return gives the strength of English troops at the Battle of Alma - 1,100 Cavalry; 3,100 Artillery and Engineers; 22,600 Infantry. Yet another lists every officer in the first landing (14 Sep 1854) who remained until their deaths in action or of sickness, showing rank, unit and date and reason of death. Great stuff.…

Il periodo di recesso scade dopo 14 giorni dal giorno in cui tu o una terza parte, diversa dal vettore e da te indicata, acquisisce il possesso fisico dell'ultimo bene o dell'ultimo lotto o pezzo.
Per esercitare il diritto di recesso, compila e invia elettronicamente una dichiarazione esplicita sul nostro sito Web, alla voce “I miei acquisti” nella sezione “Mio account”. Ti comunicheremo senza indugio una conferma di ricezione di tale recesso su un supporto durevole (ad es. via e-mail).
Per rispettare il termine di recesso, è sufficiente inviare la comunicazione relativa all'esercizio del diritto di recesso prima della scadenza del periodo di recesso stesso.
Effetti del recesso
In caso di recesso dal presente contratto, ti rimborseremo tutti i pagamenti ricevuti, compresi i costi di spedizione (ad eccezione dei costi supplementari derivanti dalla tua eventuale scelta di un tipo di spedizione diverso dal tipo meno costoso di consegna standard da noi offerto).
Potremo effettuare una detrazione dal rimborso per la perdita di valore dei beni forniti, qualora tale perdita sia il risultato di una manipolazione non necessaria da parte tua.
Eseguiremo il rimborso senza indebito ritardo e non oltre 14 giorni dal giorno in cui saremo informati della tua decisione di recedere dal presente contratto.
Il rimborso sarà effettuato utilizzando lo stesso mezzo di pagamento da te usato per la transazione iniziale, salvo che tu non abbia espressamente concordato altrimenti; in ogni caso, non dovrai sostenere alcun costo quale conseguenza di tale rimborso.
Possiamo trattenere il rimborso finché non avremo ricevuto i beni oppure finché non avrai fornito la prova di averli rispediti, a seconda di quale condizione si verifichi per prima.
Dovrai rispedire i beni o consegnarli a Naval and Military Press Ltd, Uckfield, United Kingdom, senza indebito ritardo e, in ogni caso, entro 14 giorni dal giorno in cui ci hai comunicato la tua volontà di recedere dal presente contratto. Il termine è rispettato se rispedisci i beni prima della scadenza del periodo di 14 giorni. I costi diretti della restituzione dei beni saranno a tuo carico. Sei responsabile solo della diminuzione del valore dei beni risultante da una manipolazione diversa da quella necessaria per stabilire la natura, le caratteristiche e il funzionamento dei beni stessi.
Eccezioni al diritto di recesso
Il diritto di recesso non si applica a:
- La fornitura di giornali, periodici o riviste ad eccezione dei contratti di abbonamento; e
- La fornitura di contenuto digitale non fornito su un supporto materiale (ad es. su un CD o DVD), se al momento dell'invio dell'ordine hai accettato l'inizio dell'esecuzione e hai riconosciuto che non avresti potuto recedere una volta iniziata l'esecuzione.

United Kingdom or Overseas. Books sent overseas are usually
despatched by surface mail, but on request we can despatch by air-mail.
Great care is taken with the packing of mail orders. usually using heavy-duty cardboard
MailPaks so that they arrive in the same condition they left our premises. We try to
despatch all orders within one day; please allow 7 days for delivery to Mainland UK,
Europe and overseas airmail. (45 -90 days Europe and North America surface mail. Rest
of the World allow 60 -120 days). Multiple orders may arrive in more than one package.
