Whether you are a landlord or a tenant, you should be aware of how the law protects your often-precarious position. This book offers, in clear and understandable terms, an explanation of the Oregon Residential Landlord and Tenant Act, and will show you how to avoid and resolve disputes. Published for Oregon continuously since 1978, this book will help you understand your rights, as well as avoid and resolve disputes. Some of the questions answered include: * Who is covered by the Landlord and Tenant Act? * What are the obligations of a Landlord? Of a tenant? * What are the differences between written and verbal agreements? * Is a tenant’s security deposit refundable? * How can a tenant force a landlord to make repairs? * Can a tenant break a lease? How? * Can a tenant withold rent if the landlord refuses to make repairs? * How can a landlord start an eviction action? * In what circumstances can a landlord lock a tenant out? * Are mobile and floating home tenancies covered under the act?
