The galaxy demands purity. But these adventurers? They bring chaos.
In the sprawling, volatile galaxy of Lareenya, the laws of the universe aren't just rigid... they are deeply, systematically corrupt. For centuries, the ruling authorities have demanded unquestioning obedience under the guise of divine righteousness.
Kaylith Fosta has always been the family disappointment. Her wild magic is a curse that fries every piece of technology she touches, costing her every job and making her a permanent target in a society where genetic purity isn't just an ideal... it's the law. But when Covenant Enforcers kidnap her teenage cousins for a sinister procedure known only as Processing, Kaylith is given only seventy-two hours to save them.
To pull off an impossible rescue, Kaylith must assemble a crew from the darkest corners of the galaxy. What she finds instead of a professional strike team is a volatile band of broken outcasts: Nymezla Riverstand: A lethal, wanted criminal with her own bloody score to settle. Taylin Stintch: A disillusioned Guard officer whose own family is suddenly scheduled for the same grim fate, forcing a agonizing crisis of faith. Mialle Hemsbill: A four-armed, fast-talking gambler surviving purely on charm and dangerous wagers.
Thrown together by chance and bound by mutual desperation, this unlikely crew is on the run from a regime that seeks to erase them. Together, they must infiltrate the heavily fortified Prophet's flagship and discover a horrifying truth that could shatter galactic civilization forever.
As they flee across the stars, the crew is forced to confront the darkest corners of their own histories. They must face the crushing weight of religious trauma, the insidious nature of systemic oppression, and the psychological horror of realizing they have been complicit in something monstrous. But in the vast, cold expanse of space, they discover something far more powerful than the empire hunting them: each other.
Inspired by the chaotic energy of tabletop roleplaying campaigns and the enduring strength of the found family, Lawful Good is a sweeping science fantasy space opera that builds worlds and breaks hearts. If you love the dark, genre-bending chaos of Tamsyn Muir, the deep systemic interrogations of Samantha Mills, and a ragtag crew of morally grey misfits you can’t help but root for, prepare for your next obsession.
