"Legislation on the Sacraments in the New Code of Canon Law" is an authoritative and comprehensive examination of the ecclesiastical regulations governing the sacramental life of the Catholic Church. Written by the renowned canonist H.A. Ayrinhac, this work provides a meticulous commentary on the 1917 Code of Canon Law, specifically focusing on the legal requirements, administration, and reception of the seven sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, the Holy Eucharist, Penance, Extreme Unction, Holy Orders, and Matrimony.

The text serves as an essential guide for clergy, scholars, and students of canon law, offering clarity on the transitions and applications of church legislation during a pivotal era of codification. Ayrinhac explores the theological foundations and the practical disciplinary measures established by the Holy See, ensuring that the reader understands both the letter and the spirit of the law. This volume remains a significant historical and legal resource for those interested in the development of Catholic liturgy and jurisdictional authority. Through clear exposition and scholarly rigor, "Legislation on the Sacraments in the New Code of Canon Law" illuminates the complex interplay between divine law and human governance within the Church's most sacred rites.
