Nowhere in our society are standards upheld so rigidly as at the great British golf club. But will they stand firm in the face of a stream of letters ranging from bizarre accusations to unreasonable requests? Assuming the identities of Colonel Arthur J. Lindsay-Bird (ret), his wife Mrs Julia S. Lindsay-Bird, and their son Dave Lindsay-Bird (Senior Development Producer, Mental Productions), Dom Joly bombards the country's most conservative institutions with increasingly preposterous demands. Will the Club Secretary clamp down on ilicit dog-fighting on their premises? Will the Board allow Snoop Dogg to be filmed golfing on drugs? How will the groundsman cope with accusations of dwarf-tossing? Trickster extraordinaire Dom Joly engages Britain's golf clubs in the most bizarre and hilarious correspondence you will ever read...

Dom Joly first rose to fame as the creator and star of the Channel 4 series Trigger Happy TV. He writes a weekly column in the Independent on Sunday as well as regular travel pieces. His other television credits include Dom Joly's Happy Hour for SKY and World Shut Your Mouth for the BBC.
