CHAPTER 1
Fear is paralyzing.
The lie is that we need to shun one another rather than cometogether. (Conditioning: fear, distrust and confusion.)
Have you ever given serious thought to the various formsof conditioning of our fears? Not that we shouldn't have sometrepidation when approaching certain situations; however, the mediaand other story tellers have done an excellent job over the course oftime at getting the masses to respond to everyday life in fear. And indoing so the media and other story tellers have thrown a dark shadeon our light and have pushed our humanity so far away from oneanother that one simple act of human kindness and grace is met withfear, skepticism, and shock rather than being received as the normalhuman social behavioral model that it should be met with.
Before going forward with examples of how we are herded ona daily basis through the fields of fear and spoon fed this fear everyday of our lives, I would like to take this opportunity to point outwhat fear does to people and what type of vibration the energy offear has attached to it.
Fear is paralyzing. Fear prevents us from moving forwardwith our dreams, goals and desires. Fear blocks the heart fromexpanding, loving fully and feeling pure joy. Fear brings discomfortinto the cellular structure of our bodies and minds. Fear ripsapart the cohesive structures and fabric of our souls and has evendestroyed entire families and societies. Fear blocks. Fear stifles.Fear keeps us in judgment of others. Fear darkens the soul andsnuffs out "the light."
Fear along with guilt, shame, and doubt (as well as greed),carries with it one of the lowest and darkest vibrating energies. Weare all naturally born with a higher vibrating energy and light. Weare all connected by this energy and light. It is from within thisenergy and light that we operate our course of life from "naturally."This energy and light vibration that I am referring to is love. Whenwe operate from a place of fear or any of the other descriptive wordsused to illustrate the lower vibrating energies we are not operatingat our finest. The natural current of our higher vibrating energy andlight does not instinctively or intuitively mirror that of the lowervibrating energy of fear, nor the other lower vibrating energies. Therefore, our energetic vibration that connects us to each otherand to all that is goes off course. On a global scale, we are completelyenergetically imbalanced. We therefore do not get to experience thesynchronicity of life. When we are living in our highest vibration oflove, the synchronicity of life will be in balance. We will not wantfor anything, as all will be taken care of.
Every living thing possesses energy whether plant, animal, orhuman being. There is a belief that other things possess energyand vibrations of those energies as well. It is believed that theseenergies can be manipulated and shared with others inadvertently. For example, purchasing a piece of furniture at a yard sale, or a pieceof jewelry from someone when you are not aware of its origin canlead to the happenings of strange events because each of these itemscan hold onto former owner energies - good, bad, and otherwise.
The energies of fear, guilt, shame and doubt, as well as theenergy attached to greed, can cause dis-ease within the mind which,in turn, creates dis-ease within our bodies and collectively dis-easewithin society. Just look at how societies are imploding all over theglobe. Some people believe that the mind controls the body and Iwould have to agree. If this is true then that would mean that diseasewithin the mind, would bring about disease within the body. Tothe extent that any of us hold onto any one of these lower vibratingenergies there are correlating physical and/or mental symptoms togo along with them.
Please keep in mind that since the energies of fear, guilt, shameand doubt (as well as greed) are extremely similar and the emotionand energy of fear is the underlying root of many of the other traits,I will attempt to focus primarily on fear and fear-based energy. However, there will be several instances throughout this book that Iblend these emotions/energies and instances where they overlap.
A prime example of fear conditioning can be examined bytaking a simple look at someone being stranded on the side of theroad. How many times have you just driven right on by withouteven a thought to help? Oh, you may have had some thoughtsalright - possibly along the lines of, "I can't stop to help it's just notsafe these days." (This is what we have been conditioned to believe.)I am not advocating that someone puts themselves in harm's way(because there are those out there that would do harm to another)especially in the current climate of fear and strife we find ourselvesin today.
I am though, suggesting that we immediately assess a situation- to see it for what it truly is, and if you are capable of assisting, than you should do so. Each and every one of us should do soeven if we only stop long enough to see if we can call someone onanother's behalf. Or better yet we should automatically make a callto someone for roadside assistance if we observe that someoneis stranded. There are non-emergency numbers for the localhighway patrol or the local police department. We cannot assumethat everyone owns a cell phone. It is our job as human beings toassist one another while we are here on this earth. When we are ofservice to our fellow man, we are acting in the highest accordanceof love and light and therefore, we are "operating in our highestlight vibration."
I use these examples because it is the simplest way for me todescribe how easy it has been for people to be led through the fieldsof fear which has led us to shun one another.
I was driving down a main freeway in Phoenix, late one summerafternoon. For those of you unfamiliar with the temperature inArizona in the summer, it was hot. On the other side of the freewaygoing the opposite direction from me was a man trying to push hiscar up the freeway.
I looked at the temperature gage on my dashboard and sawthat the temperature outside was 114 degrees. Immediately, I hadconcern for this other human being. It was obvious to me that hewas not plotting to kill me or anybody else. His face was brightred and he looked as though he was going to collapse from heatexhaustion.
My first and immediate thought was, "That could be my daughter,my step-son, my husband, my brother, my sister, my mother, myfather, my friend - that could be me!" With one exception, I do notthink I would have attempted to push my car up the highway. Whythis guy was doing that I will never know, and that is not the point. The point is that I could not allow the years of fear conditioning tostop me from assisting another human being.
Prior to getting on the freeway I had stopped for gas andpurchased a large 44 oz iced tea. It was not much but I thoughtabout this other human being in the heat and decided to turn mycar around so that I could give the man the iced tea that I had justpurchased from our local gas station. By the time I had exited thefreeway, went under the freeway overpass and finally got turnedaround to offer assistance to this man the police had arrived onthe scene—thankfully, right? Wrong. Rather than offer this guyassistance, they were harassing him. Even the police officers were putoff by me wanting to give the guy my iced tea. I was surprised. Here, this man is about to pass out from heat and they were questioningme about whether I knew him what was in the cup and so on. I justsaid, "It is obvious to me that the guy needs something to drink. Isaw him pushing his car up the hill on the other side of the highwayand I wanted to bring him my drink and see if there was someone Icould call for him in an effort to get him some help."
The police seemed surprised and then proceeded to cautionme on how dangerous this situation could have been for me. Asthe policeman droned on about the dangers in helping a stranger, all I could think at that time was that this man could barely walkand breathe by the time I got there to lend a hand rather than if hewas thinking of killing or hurting me. By the way, I think I couldhave taken him.
Have we fallen so far into the dark that we have lost our essenceof humanity?
There was another incident where my husband and I weretraveling down a busy street and again we were headed in theopposite direction of an elderly couple that had been stranded onthe side of the road. It had not quite been summertime. However, the weather was in the late spring and the temperatures were wellinto the 90's. I asked my husband if we could turn the car around tohelp these people. Interestingly enough the stranded people weresomewhat concerned about us and our willingness to assist them. They were uncomfortable with us approaching them at first. Youcould see the fear and judgment in their eyes. What do these peoplewant? Why are they here? Are they going to hurt us? It was all thereon the faces of both of them. The fear goes both ways. Sadly, onecannot blame these folks. It's not like their reaction is unwarrantedwhen you hear, read or see some of the terrible things that peopledo to each other. Needless to say, we (mainly my husband) helpedthese people to change their flat tire and we gave them some of theextra water that we had in our car and we were all well on our way.It was astonishing to me that the man tried to pay my husband somemoney when we were done which we did not accept. In hindsight, given the same scenario, I would have asked the guy to donate itto a charitable organization to help feed the hungry or somethingalong those lines.
I will share yet another small incident and tiny example of howwe are manipulated and controlled by the ever pervasive media intothe fields of fear, distrust and confusion.
My daughter was married and living in Iowa. She and I reallymissed one another and we decided to have a mother daughterweekend together. So we decided she would fly into our hometownand then we would drive together to San Diego, for a long weekendon the beach. As we were travelling across the mountain passwhere the 4 lane highway had dropped down to 2 lanes going inopposite directions and was divided in the middle by tall grassand gravel, we were having this deep conversation about all kindsof things spiritual and religious included. As we drove, we talked. We laughed and we shared. Off on the side of the road, going in thesame direction in which we were traveling was this disheveled manwith a beard, unkempt hair, dirty clothes, and he was hitchhiking. We were traveling at about 65 miles per hour and initially we droveright passed this guy. In the same instant both of us said in unison,"What if that was Jesus?"
This sent chills up both of our spines as if it were some type ofdirect message or question of our character. One does not have tobelieve in Jesus to understand the importance and significance ofwhat had just transpired. The fact that the both of us had the samethought at the same time was undeniable. So naturally we decidedto turn around and offer the manaride. We had only passed him bya few minutes before. I made a quick u-turn (over the tall grass andgravel) heading in the opposite direction and then quickly adjustedand got the car turned around and drove down the side of thehighway opposite of the way we were initially traveling. We beganto look down the side of the road where we had first spotted theman. We crossed the median again and drove back in the directionwe were initially headed. Both my daughter and I looked for thisguy - but he was nowhere to be found. Oh, and might I add, our carwas the only car on the road for miles around. There was no onebehind us, and no one in front of us. There were no stores or gasstations on the side of the road either.
We never saw the man. I am sure we travelled far enough backbecause I recognized the terrain of the side of the road where wehad originally noticed him. This action confirmed to me that wehad done the right thing even if we did not have the extra passengerinourcar. It was almost as if we were being tested by the loving lightof Spirit. It was as if we were experiencing a line of questioning,"Are these girls so full of fear that they will not turn this car aroundto help another human being? Can they participate in a simpleact of compassion and human kindness? Will they participate in asimple act of compassion and human kindness?"
I have also been on the receiving end of countless cars passingby when stuck on the freeway with a flat tire, or a vehicle that forwhatever reason just stopped working. Thankfully my father madesure I knew how to change a flat tire, among other things, beforehe would even let me get my license. But I recall one very specificincident from many years ago. I was living in California. I workedin downtown Los Angeles, and lived in the Sunland/Tujunga area.My car just died on one of the main freeways on my way home fromwork one evening. My gas gage read that I had gas in the tank, so Icould not understand why my car just died on the freeway. This wasbefore cell phones were as readily available and owned by everyoneon the road. I of course did not have a cell phone at that time nor didmany of the other people passing by—of that I am certain. I was inthe fast lane and had to pull into the emergency lane closest to themiddle of the freeway. I was terrified.
My daughter was a baby at the time and was at daycare. I wasconcerned because I needed to get to my daughter before thedaycare closed. Not that they would have left her unattended, but as a responsible parent, my thoughts went to her and on theinconvenience to the daycare professionals. And, let's face it - I wasscared sick to be stuck on the side of the freeway nearest the fastlane in rush hour traffic in the Los Angeles, area.
I put my emergency flashers on and I could not count thenumber of cars that passed me as there were so many. Since itwas rush hour the traffic was slow enough for someone to yell outtheir window and ask me if they could call someone for me likea tow truck. But, no one did. At least not right away. After beingstranded on the side of the freeway for more than an hour a kindgentleman—and a complete stranger I might add, pulled up behindme and asked me if I wanted a ride.
Fearfully (get the use of this word) I said, "Yes." I checked thedoor knob before getting in to make sure it worked from the insideand I checked the door lock to make sure I could lock and unlockthe door. I checked the window and the seat belt as well, beforegetting into the car. These were just some precautions my dad andothers who cared about me in life passed on. Not everyone offeringassistance is evil and out to harm others. And, as it turned out, thisstranger literally saved me.
I don't remember his name or if we even exchanged namescome to think of it. I do remember him stating that he had a wifeand child and all he could think about was his wife stranded on theroad and no one stopping to assist her. He took me to the daycarewhere I picked up my daughter and he drove me to the corner ofmy street. Even though he was kind and unassuming, I didn't wanthim knowing where I lived. I was operating in that moment froma place of fear. Thankfully, I was able to get to my daughter and gethome to call a family member for assistance.
By today's standards and heck even for the standards back thenthis gentleman took a risk and so did I. It is just completely sad thatwe humans should feel that we have to behave this way towards oneanother out of fear and distrust.
Again, I do not advocate putting oneself in harm's way. However,it is the underlying energy of fear that causes humanity to behave asit does. Just look at all that is going on all over the world. It is easy tosee how fear keeps us from reaching out to assist one another. It iseasy to see how fear has stripped us of our humanity which keeps usconnected to one another. However, we must be diligent in seekingthe truth, our own truth. The saying, "follow your gut," applies here.If something doesn't feel right chances are, it's not. If you feel in yourgut that you need to do something, then do it. However, I cautionthat if you are a person who has been known to be too trustingand your internal antenna is off (your guiding light) proceed withcaution, not with reckless abandon and carefully assess a situationbefore acting upon it as there are people in this world that would setout to do harm to another person (which behavior is a direct resultof their fears) unfortunately. Some people can "go with their gut"so to speak while others are not that in tuned with it.
By the way, that "gut" thing is your higher self, your soul, yourguiding light, directing you and protecting you. If we all learned topay attention to that guiding light, we would all be better off.
The above examples are just to name a few ways in which we (allof us) have been manipulated into responding to each other (or tonot respond to each other I should say) out of fear and distrust.
