There is a place where the old road ends. Most people drive past without noticing. But if someone slows at just the right bend, where the fence leans under blackberry vines, they might see an older lane turning away into the trees.
Lilly has always been the kind of girl who notices things.
When her family returns to her grandmother's cottage to sort through what remains, Lilly follows a sound beneath the wind, a humming older than words, into the Whispering Forest. There she finds old friends waiting, and discovers that her grandmother left behind far more than teacups and pressed flowers.
She left a lantern. And the lantern has been calling.
With Buddy, Sage Nut, Oliver, Rufus, and Tully at her side, Lilly follows the Path of Small Lights deeper into the forest than anyone has traveled before, through a grove where the names of the loved are hung from branches, a river that only the generous can cross, and an ancient house beneath a northern hill where the last keeper of the light has been waiting a very long time.
Lilly and the Song of the Stars is the final tale in the Whispering Forest Stories series, a luminous story about grief, wonder, memory, and the discovery that some lights are not meant to be kept. Only carried forward.
