You are cordially invited to begin your magical relationship with the faery world. Many of the things we believe about faeries are old wives’ tales, made-up myths, and invented stories to satisfy cultural curiosity. Here, you will learn how to separate myth from truth and discover how to create your private faery kingdom.

Learn the rules of faery life and reconnect with nature. Discover how to make a faery garden, what particular trees and plants attract faery folk, and rituals you can perform to connect with the faery realms. Even if you are not yet a fully-fledged “Faery Believer,” a walk in the outdoors will never be the same once you have been touched by the wisdom and enchantment of Living the Faery Life.

Living the Faery Life is a guide for everyone: Tinkerbell fans, faery non-believers, fanatics, Pagan and Wiccan practitioners, as well as devotees who enjoy the ritual use of candles and crystals.

From the Book

For many years I lived in Los Angeles, in Hollywood to be exact. In 2006 I moved to Cambria, up the California coast just before you reach Big Sur. We had two acres surrounded by eighty-foot high pines and loaded with wildlife: wild turkey, families of deer, foxes, bobcats, and hundreds of squirrels. It was a woodland paradise and these animals were our friends. We had names for all of them and regularly gave them permissible treats and spoiled them rotten.

In 2016, I moved to Ventura just in time to be caught in the Thomas Fire. It ravaged our neighborhood and destroyed 90 percent of the houses around us. Our house was miraculously left standing with only a small amount of damage to the outside, back fence, and hillside landscaping.

We did not know if we had a house or not for three days. The news footage showed blazing structures, smoke, and destruction. I watched our neighbor’s house burn to the ground on television. I figured our house would be gone, too. When I was finally allowed to return to the property I discovered two major things; the damage was small compared to the lots of smoldering embers surrounding our house. The inside was completely intact and the garden area in the back, where I had placed a faerie door, was unharmed. I attributed the saving of the inside to the bank of tall quartz tower crystals that I had on a cabinet in front of the window, and the back yard area to the faeries who protected the space and often used the faerie door I provided to make it easy for them to come and go.

There is no doubt in my mind or heart that we were protected. Do I believe in faeries? You bet your bottom dollar, I absolutely and unequivocally do. This book is my tribute to them and a love letter of gratitude to the magical beings who saved my house from the fires. For all they have done for me, I owe them this book, at least.

From the Foreword:

So how do we allow the fairies into our lives? How do we seek them out? What are the do’s and don’ts? How do we create and maintain healthy reciprocal relations with these benevolent beings? Young graciously outlines the process for welcoming their presence into our lives, making magic accessible to everyone. She opens the door to infinite possibility and allows all who enter with pure intentions the opportunity to participate in this dance between worlds.

Genuinely connecting with fairies requires an authentic understanding of them, and Young’s intimate familiarity with the fae grants her the authority with which to convey this understanding. She provides clear and practical guidelines for communing and connecting with the whimsical spirits on multidimensional levels, and this is an especially engaging addition to her book. She reveals that fairies exist on three geographical planes and describes the correlating characteristics and elements associated with each. The Upperworld, Middleworld, and Lowerworld serve as sacred and distinct dwellings for the fairies who have unique preferences, pastimes, and personalities. With Young’s guidance, we can learn to approach fairies appropriately and with clear purpose. Once we’ve entered this ethereal realm, is it really possible to return to a mundane predictable existence? One would think not.

Young further shares accounts of her own remarkable encounters with the “little folk.” While many live according to the adage I’ll believe it when I see it, Young emphasizes that some things must first be believed before they can be seen. The majority of our limitations are self-imposed and the extent to which we can see depends largely on what we’re looking for. Young’s lighthearted, open-minded perspective has clearly opened her eyes to sights unseen by the common man. Her kindred connections and extraordinary experiences with playful pixies will leave readers with goosebumps and little doubt there is more to reality than meets the eye. Young’s insight is invaluable and her reverence for the fae and their otherworldly kingdoms commands a deep respect and wholehearted affinity for their existence.
