nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Love Matters: Inspiration for New Couples and People Who Need a New PerspectiveLove is often portrayed as effortless-something that either 'works' or doesn't. But anyone who has lived inside a committed relationship knows the truth: love is learned. It is shaped over time through communication, patience, forgiveness, and the daily choice to stay engaged with another imperfect human being.Love Matters is a thoughtful, honest, and deeply practical guide for couples who want a relationship that lasts-not because it avoids difficulty, but because it knows how to move through it with grace.Written for new couples, long-term partners, marriages in need of renewal, and relationships navigating real-life challenges, this book offers thirty short readings designed to be read together. Each chapter can be completed in under an hour and includes reflection questions and simple practices that invite meaningful conversation and shared growth. The structure makes Love Matters ideal for couples' devotions, counseling settings, small groups, or quiet evenings at home.Drawing from years of pastoral ministry, conflict mediation, and lived experience, Mark David Albertson writes with humility, clarity, and warmth. He does not offer rigid formulas or idealized versions of marriage. Instead, he names what couples actually face: miscommunication, unresolved conflict, mismatched expectations, stress, grief, changing intimacy, forgiveness after hurt, and the challenge of choosing one another again and again over time.At the heart of Love Matters is the belief that strong relationships are built on skill, not luck. Healthy couples are not those who avoid conflict, but those who learn how to fight fairly, repair quickly, listen deeply, and remain emotionally connected even when life becomes difficult. Throughout the book, Albertson blends pastoral insight, real-life stories, gentle humor, and progressive Christian theology to create a tone that is both grounded and hopeful. This book is written intentionally for all couples-gay, straight, queer, and everything in between. It assumes mutual dignity, consent, and partnership, and it resists shame-based or exclusionary approaches to faith and marriage. While rooted in Christian spirituality, Love Matters is accessible to readers across belief spectrums and is especially helpful for those who have felt wounded, excluded, or misunderstood by traditional religious conversations about relationships.Topics explored include:communicating with honesty and carelearning to fight fairly and repair after conflictsetting healthy boundariesnavigating forgiveness without denialtending intimacy across seasons of lifeweathering hardship togetherdiscovering shared purposechoosing one another intentionally over timeIn addition to serving couples directly, Love Matters is also a valuable resource for pastors, Christian counselors, chaplains, spiritual directors, and mentors who walk with couples in their communities. A companion pastoral and counseling guide expands the book's usefulness in church, counseling, and group settings.Ultimately, Love Matters is not a book about achieving the 'perfect' relationship. It is a book about practicing faithful love-love that is honest, resilient, repairable, and rooted in grace.Because love matters. And how we love each other matters more than we know.…

Strong relationships aren’t built by accident.
They’re built through communication, patience, forgiveness, and the daily choice to love well.
Love Matters is a warm, honest, and deeply practical relationship book for couples who want a healthier, more resilient partnership—whether they are newly together, long married, struggling, or simply seeking a fresh perspective. Written in a conversational, pastoral voice, this book offers real tools for real relationships, without shame, rigid rules, or unrealistic expectations.
Designed to be read together, Love Matters includes 30 short chapters, each focused on a core aspect of healthy marriage and long-term partnership. Every chapter can be completed in under an hour and includes reflection questions and simple practices that help couples communicate more honestly, navigate conflict more skillfully, and grow closer over time.
This book is ideal for:
-
married couples
-
engaged couples
-
long-term partners
-
couples experiencing conflict or distance
-
couples wanting to strengthen an already good relationship
-
pastors, counselors, and church leaders working with couples
Written intentionally for all couples—gay, straight, queer, and diverse partnerships—Love Matters affirms mutual dignity, consent, and shared responsibility. It offers a progressive Christian approach to marriage and relationships that is inclusive, grace-centered, and deeply human.
Drawing on years of experience as a pastor, conflict mediator, and relationship guide, Mark David Albertson blends pastoral wisdom, real-life stories, gentle humor, and practical insight. He speaks honestly about the challenges couples actually face: miscommunication, unresolved conflict, forgiveness after hurt, changing intimacy, boundaries, stress, grief, and the long work of choosing one another again and again.
Rather than promising a “perfect marriage,” Love Matters focuses on relationship skills—because healthy couples are not those who avoid conflict, but those who learn how to repair, listen, and stay emotionally connected when life gets hard.
Topics include:
-
communication and listening skills
-
learning to fight fairly
-
repair after conflict
-
forgiveness without denial
-
healthy boundaries
-
emotional and physical intimacy
-
navigating stress and hardship together
-
shared purpose and meaning
-
choosing your partner over time
Rooted in Christian spirituality but accessible to readers across belief backgrounds, Love Matters is especially helpful for those who have felt wounded or excluded by traditional religious conversations about marriage. It offers a faith-based relationship guide that is inclusive, affirming, and grounded in grace rather than fear.
In addition to serving couples directly, Love Matters is a valuable resource for pastors, Christian marriage counselors, chaplains, spiritual directors, and mentors. A companion pastoral and counseling guide expands its usefulness for premarital counseling, marriage enrichment, small groups, and church-based relationship programs.
At its core, Love Matters is a reminder that love is not something you master—it’s something you practice. And with the right tools, patience, and grace, love can grow stronger over time.
Because love matters.
And how we love each other matters more than we know.
