Rebellious child who cheated death. Indomitable visionary. And mastermind behind one of the world's most enduring fandoms: Star Wars.
"An epic tale of creative struggles and triumph." —Jeffrey Brown, bestselling author of Darth Vader and Son
In a tale befitting the saga he created, Lucas Wars follows George Lucas’s journey from aimless dreamer to filmmaking trailblazer and prodigy of the New Hollywood movement. While his fellow rising stars—directors like Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg, and Martin Scorsese—craft The Godfather, Jaws, and Taxi Driver, Lucas follows his childhood dreams and begins work on an epic fantasy . . . which, he soon discovers, is not without its epic challenges.
Writer Laurent Hopman and artist Renaud Roche dive deep into the creative process behind Star Wars: A New Hope, from the hell of casting to the nightmare of filming. Lucas is forced to juggle actor quarrels, a secret love affair, costume and set mishaps, and constant pushback from film execs. But despite it all, a landmark movie emerges—one that changes the medium of film forever.
Lucas Wars is an exhilarating underdog story and a unique glimpse into the world of cinema. But most of all, it’s an ode to the magic of childhood and the value of perseverance.

Informazioni sull’autore
Laurent Hopman is a journalist and writer. As an editor in chief in the entertainment press for over twenty years, a specialist in American cinema, and an expert on the Star Wars universe, he has long worked in show business. Now a comic book writer, his passion for Star Wars inspired him to write the script for Lucas Wars, the first graphic novel to tell the story of George Lucas and the genesis of Star Wars.
Renaud Roche graduated from the famous Paris Gobelins School of Arts in 2002, and began his career in visual effects before turning to storyboarding and illustration. For almost twenty years, he worked in cinema, advertising, and press. In 2019, he joined the Illumination Mac Guff studio and helped create feature films, including Sing 2 and Migration. But it was his love of Star Wars that drew him to comics. After Lucas Wars, he decided to devote himself to the medium full-time.

Descrizione dello Store
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book.
