The resident rector, Father Donald Peasgood, and his redoubtable sister drag a reluctant Charles into the fold, while his disreputable next-door neighbor involves him in a scheme to burn down the house for the insurance money. Despite his best intentions to remain aloof, Charles lurches from crisis to crisis as this rollicking tale hurtles like a runaway train to its inevitable disastrous climax. When one very unpleasant lady ends up dead, and Charles is the prime suspect, it looks like the only way he can save himself is to flee the humble sanctuary and the open-hearted people he has come to love on the Eastern Shore. Pat Wilson has a BA from Ryerson University in Toronto. She is the author of nine inspirational books, three business books, numerous short stories, and the best-selling motivational program, "Living in Excellence". Before retirement, she spent 15 years as an international speaker and trainer. Kris Wood is a Certified Gerontologist as well as an instructor in the Art of Movement. She is the author of numerous articles as well as co-author of several training manuals. She worked for a number of years as manager of a non-profit housing agency in Edmonton, Alberta. Pat and Kris have co-authored nearly a dozen short stories for mystery anthologies, and are the co-writers of two full-length humorous books on Maritime subjects.
