Chapter XIX was written by ophthalmic surgeon at the Bath War Hospital, formerly of the Bath Eye Infirmary, William Mardon Beaumont (1851-1928). Previous owner was Arthur Ambrose Sweeney, M.D. (1858-1928), a professor of medical jurisprudence at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, hospital clinician, and courtroom witness, active in Saint Paul.
