"A Man and His Car" was written as a tribute to my father as a family man and a business man. I presented the story as it was told to me and as I remember the facts. Writing this book also enabled me to reflect on the wonderful experiences of my childhood and realize their impact on my adult life.

Informazioni sull’autore
The author, Felix J. Vialet, Jr., called Junior by most of his family was born November 10, 1942, on the island of St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands to Felix J. Vialet, Sr. and Huldah V. Vialet. They were also the parents of Noreen, Aubrey, and Kenneth Vialet. Writing his father’s story had been a dream of his for quite a few years. He told himself that when he retired that he would seriously seek information on how to get started on writing this story. Felix, Jr., retired in 2009 and became a member of the Lou Walker Senior Center in Lithonia, Georgia. “Writing Your Story” was a program offered at the center. He immediately signed up for the course. Mrs. Estelle Ford Williamson was the class instructor. As an author and publisher, she gave him the impetus needed to take on the challenge of committing this oral history to print. He wanted to share the story of his father, a humble but ambitious man with ideas who worked hard to realize his dreams. His father started the first Taxi Company Service and Sightseeing Tour Business in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Because of these successful business ventures, he not only was able to provide for his family, but also affected the lives of those he employed and the growth of the tourist industry on the island. Family members and his father’s friends were eager and happy to share bits and pieces of his father’s life with him. Although Felix Jr. lived through a large part of this story, and knew most of his father’s former employees and friends, he relied on all those honest memories to help write this story.
