(from the title page); from the Preface: " .the object has been to prepare an elementary Text-book for the study of Harmony, which should be at once brief, simple, and concise. .Nothing farther is here attempted than to impart a knowledge of simple choral-writing in four parts. .No musical knowledge whatever is presupposed on the part of the student; simply, a 'musical ear.' " Book condition: This book is in better than average condition for its age. Three of the cover corners show some wear, and the cover spine top is partly worn away; title, in gold letterilng, is eeasily seen on the front cover; contents are in nice condition, with an absence of foxing; the blank rear end-paper is torn horizontally across in the upper third portion of the page.
