Descrizione dell’articolo da parte del venditore

Condition is Very Good, consistent with age (155+ years). Original gilt-decorated cloth shows moderate wear, with light rubbing/bumping at the spine ends; gilt title and figure remain bright and fully legible. Text block shows age-appropriate toning and scattered foxing throughout. Binding is sound and square. Folding map present and complete, with small tear at the binding edge; the map itself is otherwise intact, fully legible, and not missing any sections - still a plus as this ap is frequently missing entirely from surviving copies. Copyright page clean and legible. Original green decorative cloth, gilt-lettered spine with gilt Native American figure motif Copyright: Registered 1869, Clerk’s Office, District Court for the District of Massachusetts Map: Complete folding map, “Map of the Merrimack Valley,” published by B.B. Russell, 55 Cornhill — present and complte, with one small tear at the binding edge (does not effect readability or completeness of the map). See photos. Dedication: “To D.W. Smith, a son of the Merrimack Valley, and, through many years, a true and faithful friend, this volume is affectionately inscribed.” A scarce first edition (1869) of J.W. Meader’s regional history of the Merrimack River, covering its source, tributaries, and the towns along its course — their geography, topography, manufactures, and products — along with a description of the natural scenery of its upper waters. Bound in the original decorative green cloth with a gilt figure of a Native American on the spine, this copy retains its complete folding map of the Merrimack Valley, confirmed intact with no tears at the folds. A valuable resource for collectors of New England Americana, Massachusetts and New Hampshire local history, and 19th-century river valley/industrial history. …
