"I Miss the Music" is a fictional novel and compelling memoir by Weldon Sipe and John Hadsell. Drawing deeply from real-life experiences and observations, the narrative captures a transformative journey through a pivotal era in American history.

The story follows the protagonist, Weldon, as he navigates the complexities of the 1960s. His path takes him from the industrial environment of Electric Boat in Connecticut, where he works on the design and construction of nuclear submarines, to the academic and activist atmosphere of New Mexico State University.

As the social and political climate shifts, Weldon becomes deeply involved in the anti-war movement. The book chronicles his challenges with the Selective Service System, his pursuit of Conscientious Objector status, and the personal toll of the Vietnam War. Central to the narrative is the influential mentorship of Professor John Hadsell, whose teachings on political science and student rights help shape Weldon's burgeoning activism.

Interwoven throughout the story is the powerful influence of music. From the early days of Doo-Wop to the protest anthems of Richie Havens, Neil Young, and The Beatles, the soundtrack of the generation serves as both a backdrop and a catalyst for change.

"I Miss the Music" is an authentic exploration of conscience, dissent, and the difficult choices faced by those who stood at the crossroads of a divided nation.
