Neuware - 'Modelling and Sculpture: A Full Account of the Various Methods and Processes Employed in These Arts' is a comprehensive and practical guide to the plastic arts, authored by the distinguished British sculptor Albert Toft. This definitive manual serves as an essential resource for both students and professional artists, offering a detailed exploration of the techniques required to master the craft of three-dimensional form. Through clear instructions and expert insights, Toft meticulously details the stages of clay modelling, from the initial construction of armatures to the final delicate touches of expression. The work provides an in-depth look at the diverse materials used in the studio, including clay, wax, and plaster, while also covering the complex processes of casting in bronze and carving in marble. Beyond technical execution, Toft emphasizes the importance of observation and the study of anatomy, ensuring that the artist understands the structural integrity of the human figure. Rich with historical context and timeless advice, 'Modelling and Sculpture' remains a vital reference for anyone seeking to understand the traditional methods of sculptural production and the artistic philosophy behind one of the most enduring forms of creative expression. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
