Riassunto
This is the first book in a series of three entitled Modern Hearing Aids by these authors. Pre-fitting Testing and Selection Considerations takes the reader to the point of choosing hearing aids. Mueller (audiology, Vanderbilt University), Ricketts (hearing and speech sciences, Vanderbilt Medical Center), and Bentler (communication sciences and disorders, University of Iowa) cover the interview and assessment of the patient's needs. They provide the protocols for administration and scoring of pre-fitting tests, hearing aid selection, and the process of taking an ear impression, and decision-making regarding hearing aid plumbing and ear molds. The authors aim to provide tools supported by research and clinical experience, as well as reference information for clinical students, in addition to a handy reference for clinicians. Finally, they wish to present a depth of subject that would even appeal to the serious hearing aid researcher, while maintaining readability for all readers. There are eight chapters. For emphasis throughout the text there are short paragraphs called Key Concepts, Technical Tips, Points to Ponder, and Things to Remember. In addition, there are endnotes, references, appendixes, and a multitude of tables and figures. Annotation ©2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
