"A Monograph of the Recent Cephalopoda" is a foundational scientific study dedicated to the classification, anatomy, and biology of the world's cephalopods. Authored by G. C. Robson, this comprehensive work serves as a critical taxonomic reference for the study of octopuses, squids, and their kin found in the world's oceans. The text provides detailed morphological descriptions and systematic analyses, aiming to organize the diverse species of this fascinating class of mollusks.

The monograph emphasizes the evolution and structural diversity of "Recent" (non-extinct) cephalopods, offering insights into their physiological characteristics and geographic distribution. By synthesizing the zoological knowledge of the early 20th century, Robson establishes a rigorous framework for malacologists and marine biologists. This work remains a significant historical contribution to marine science, particularly for its meticulous approach to identifying and cataloging marine invertebrates. It is an essential resource for researchers interested in the history of zoology, the development of marine biological classification, and the intricate biology of some of the ocean's most intelligent and elusive inhabitants.
