Most people know the saying “Red sky in the morning, shepherds warning”, but did you know that saying could be far older than the Bible? Ken Ring's Moon & Weather Lore contains a collection of aspects of weather folklore from ages past, selected from old literature, sailors’ tales, historical writings, hand-me-down accounts, and rules of the ancient peoples from many countries. There are also comments as to why they might be accurate, based on the author’s 25 years of meteorological experience. For hundreds of years, it was believed that the moon controlled the weather, and that belief persists today, even amongst some meteorologists. To quote one government forecaster, “I still like to keep an eye on what the moon is doing, although the younger ones don’t seem to care much!” After reading this book, you will start watching seagulls, the shape of the clouds, and when the flowers open. You’ll start to notice the significance of which way the ants are running, where the sheep go at the start of the day, and even the way the bubbles rise in your coffee!
