Nano and Biotech Based Materials for Energy Building Efficiency

F.PACHECO-TORGAL is an Investigator at C-TAC ResearchCentre, University of Minho in Portugal. Authored almost 300 publications, 96referenced in ISI Web of Science-WoS. Has a SCI Platinum h=30, the highest inthe field of civil engineering in Portugal. Invited reviewer for 76international journals for which he reviewed so far more than 260 papers. Hisreview record places him at the Top 0.25% between more than 48.000 reviewersregistered in Publons. Currently ranks 5th place between more than 900engineering reviewers. Lead Editor of 14 books (11 already published and 5being on the Master Book List of Web of Science) with more than 500contributors from 52 countries in the five continents. Some of these books areavailable in all the libraries of the 10 most important Universities accordingto the Shanghai Ranking World Top 500 Universities. F.Pacheco-Torgal haspracticed as a professional Civil Engineer during 10 years (1993-2003) duringwhich he participated in building design projects and on-site supervision activitiesamounting to an excess of 49 million euros. Member of the Portuguese Board ofEngineers since 1993, granted with the Senior title in 2003.

Director of CRB (Italian BiomassResearch Centre) since 2014; President of Umbria Section of AIDI (ItalianIlluminating Association) since 2012; Coordinator of PhD Course “Energy andSustainable Development” since 2013. Scientific Research in Transparentinsulation materials (aerogel); Indoor thermal comfort and works of artconservation;  Biomass and bioenergy;Environmental Impact; Life Cycle Assessment (LCA); Carbon Footprint;Sustainable energy; Heat Transfer; Acoustics; Natural lighting. Author of overthan 150 scientific publications.

Dr.S. KALAISELVAM is the Head, Department of Applied Science and Technology, AnnaUniversity, Chennai. He obtained his Doctorate and  Post Graduate degree from  Anna University,Chennai, and bachelor degree from University of Madras. He is a recipient ofthe  Active Researcher Award - 2013  by CTDT, Anna University from the FormerPresident of India, Honorable A. P.J. Abdul Kalam, and Young Scientists award from DST, Government of India, and IEI Young Mechanical Engineers Award  from the Institution of Engineers, India. Hehas published more than 50 articles in International Journals and presentedmore than 70 papers in National and International conferences. He also authoreda Book in Academic Press (Elsevier) and contributed several  chapters in Books of InternationalStandards.   His research interestsencompass nanoscale and microscale heat transfer, nanomaterials, thermal energytransport, phase change materials, nanofluids and HVAC systems.

CLAES-GÖRANGRANQVIST, born 1946, is currently Senior Professor of Solid State Physics atthe The Ångström Laboratory of Uppsala University in Sweden. Granqvist’sresearch covers materials, mostly thin surface coatings, for energy efficiencyand solar energy applications particularly in the built environment. Thevariable-transmittance “smart” window is one example, which also forms thebasis of ChromoGenics AB, a company founded by Granqvist and collaborators andpresently employing some 20 persons. He is member of The Royal Swedish Academyof Sciences and The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. In 2015,Granqvist received the Jan Czochralski Award for his lifetime achievements inMaterials Science.

Dr.VOLODYMYR IVANOV has more than 40 years of teaching and research experience onEnvironmental, Industrial, and Construction Microbiology and Biotechnology inthe universities of Europe, Asia, and USA. He is an author of 200 papers,patents, book chapters and 8 monographies. His textbook “EnvironmentalMicrobiology for Engineers”, Francis & Taylor, 1st (2010) and 2nd (2015)editions, was adopted for the graduate and post-graduate courses in theuniversities. His research experience includes the supervision andparticipation in the projects on biotechnologies with biofilms and biogranules,microbial transformations of iron, biocementation, bioclogging, andbioremediation of soil, microbiological monitoring of water quality.
