A detailed account of community upheaval in response to the appointment of Rev. Joseph Richardson, beginning in 1805. Richardson was accused of various misdeeds, including breach of promise and assault. The volume includes documents as well as the narratives that explain how Richardson eventaully prevailed. Provides a detailed view of the workings of a New England community in the early 19th century.
