The book revolves around the complex regulatory mechanism of the cortisol secretion from the adrenal gland. The book substantiate the new emerging concept of existence of both intraglandular mechanism as well as extra adrenal systemic substances.It contains the results of oxytocin, dopamine, adrenaline and somatostatin for their potential role as cortisol regulators by strategically designed experimental protocol i.e pharmacological annulation using HPA (hypothalamopituitary adrenal axis ) and RAS (renin angiotensin system). The results of their stimulatory/ inhibitory role has been statistically established. The probable pathway of influencing the cortisol producing cells has also been suggested. The book is a valued addition in the field of cortisol research as it also contains an updated bibliography of the subject for research workers.
