"Nice" people want to be liked by everyone. They are afraid of offending, and adapt their behaviour to what they think other people want. Although they aim to please they feel compromised and badly treated a lot of the time. They find it hard to ask for what they really want and there are times when they do not even know what they want. This is the theory that this book suggests. It goes on to explore the techniques needed to help "nice" people choose a different ways of behaving, and put them back in control of their lives. Issues covered include boundary setting, status, dealing with uncomfortable feelings, slowing things down, role reversal, humour, agreement and levelling.

Recensione
'The book is easy to read, thoughtful and practical. Jo Ellen Grzyb writes as well as she talks and the ideas that she and Robin Chandler have sewn together are guaranteed to turn even a double dyed doormat into an altogether more thoughtful kind of soft furnishing'
Anna Raeburn
'Grzyb and Chandler have charted a comprehensive map to finding the healthy, happy, middle ground that is designed to help you get what you want out of life'
