This is the 4th edition of "Nosh for Students", a book originally inspired by the author's son, Ben, who left for university with no cooking skills. Toasted sandwiches and Mars bars were his staple diet, but these didn't serve him too well! What was needed to encourage him to cook was an easily attainable taste of home, oh, and pictures with every recipe! "Nosh for Students" was born. Since then, Joy has helped over 200,000 students get cooking with her straightforward and simple approach. Joy helps to take the chore out of cooking, giving students a taste of success and making the experience so much fun.

Joy May I love food, always have. When I was about six, I started to learn how to cook. By the time I was 12, my sister and I could cook Sunday lunch. I love this heritage and I like nothing better than having a house full of people to feed. I wrote this book when Ben, my beloved eldest, left home for uni. I had no success in teaching him to cook. My final hope was that the harsh realities of a uni kitchen would be the kick-start that he needed. However, on sight of his pasty face as he returned from the first semester, I knew more proactive measures were in order. That's why I wrote this book.
