Neuware - 'Notes on Old Poultry Books' is a scholarly and comprehensive examination of historical literature dedicated to domestic birds and poultry farming. Authored by the renowned geneticist R. C. Punnett and edited by E. Comyns Lewer, this work serves as an essential reference for bibliophiles, collectors, and agricultural historians. The text delves into the evolution of poultry-keeping practices through the lens of published manuals, guides, and treatises dating back centuries. The volume provides a meticulous bibliography of works published up to 1880, chronicling the transition from traditional farmyard management to more specialized breeding and exhibition. Punnett offers insightful commentary on the rarity and significance of specific titles, shedding light on how early authors influenced the development of poultry science. By documenting these early printed sources, the book preserves the intellectual heritage of avian husbandry and offers a fascinating glimpse into the cultural importance of poultry throughout history.
